Distribution Center Leader (Lakeland, FL)

Reporting to Distribution Center Manager the DC Leader provides support by acting as the process and product expert to an assigned DC. This entails providing guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to the DC Team Leaders and/or the Drivers, Floaters, and Warehouse personnel for the purpose of achieving a key result or group of aligned results. The DC Lead monitors the quantitative and qualitative achievements of the team and reports results to the DC Manager. Once the direction is given, the DC Lead is expected to participate in the actual work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor day to day tasks of employees on the warehouse floor
  • Assist with setting trailers up for the day’s loads
  • Perform daily equipment inspections
  • Check the safety of all loads before they leave the facility
  • Check all loads and orders to ensure no picking errors
  • Ensure all driver paperwork is complete, accurate, and filed in the driver box for daily deliveries
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs
  • Ensure employee are adhering to safety policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Coordinates with the DC manager to manage personnel issues and requests
  • Promote a positive team environment and increase employee engagement
  • Leads crew by example by loading trucks and/or performing other duties as necessary
  • Performs administrative tasks as necessary
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all warehouse operations
  • Maintains safety programs and all required safety training for the crew
  • Acts as backup for Warehouse Manager when needed

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in warehouse operations
  • Valid Forklift license
  • Class A CDL is a plus
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize time to meet deadlines
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) including Microsoft teams
  • Ability to communicate and operate electronically via smartphone (texts, email, calendar management, and other business-related apps)

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional climbing, kneeling, squatting, and crawling
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, twisting
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs
  • Repetitive use of hands and feet
